This one is weird. Have a law firm where line 052 appears and rings on x203 and x205. 205 is actually a secretary for 203 as well as 3 other extensions. Both have seperate VM's but if someone dials in on 052 it will not go into 203's VM unless I set ext 205 to "Appear Only". She really needs it to ring and appear as she tries to handle all his calls while he is out of the office. In line settings, 052's prime set is 203. The thing that gets me is that both are set to Fwd NA =3. In most cases in the event of a "tie" wouldn't it go straight to the lowest DN? It does not. I really don't want to set her to 4 rings as then I have to deal with the 3 other groups of people she answers for as well which everyone is happy with and work just fine. More than anything I am just really frustrated because i really feel I know the MICS and NAM well and cannot get this to work right no matter how I have changed the settings except for the "Appear Only" as i indicated.

Any help is appreciated!

Try assigning the secretary an answer button for her boss instead of ring and appear for the line 052. I do not know if this will work in your case but you should try. I think the thing you mentioned about a tie going to the lowest DN only happens when dealing with answer button DN's. In fact it might only work when two phones have answer DN's. (two secretaries, instead of a secretary and boss). I would just change her to 4 rings- it does not sound like it will affect the other people she answers for.

I`ve seen multiple maiboxes set to the same F/NA and it would randomly select which mailbox to forward the caller to. I always set the rings accordingly as the lowest DN thing definetely does not work on all versions. The answer DN B.Krike mentioned would be the best way to go, providing there`s a spare button on their phone. F/NA and F/busy don`t come into play with an answer DN key.

I appreciate both responses! I tried the answer DN thing earlier, but did not like it coming in on the intercom line without displaying info on the call she was going to answer. It is kind of important because she answers for 4 different attorneys or "Companies" in this case. Anyhow, maybe i'll just set her to 4 rings and see how it flies!

Again...thanks! What a great forum with vast intelligence to help each other with stuff like this.

SEE YA!!!

Rich, when you assign an ANS DN, a key will appear on the recept set. If the lines are answered by the AA, don't have them ring on her phone. As b.krite and schlum mentioned above, when a call rings in on one of the sets she is to ans for, it will flash on the DN key AND display the line number/line name and the set name that it is ringing on. It should not be ringing on an intercom key. Also, if she doesn't answer the call, it will FNA to the correct MB.

The answer DN will not always follow the correct FNA settings on the appear+ring set. The circustance in particular where I found this out was with DID. An answer key set to ring for 4 main number overlines/huntCOs on a DID set sent the overline call to the DID set. Only solution was to remove ringing from the answer key. Or remove the answer key.
Hey! If I've missed something here... someone please say what!

In the case of an Answer DN button in a boss/ secretary situation where the boss's DID rings on his phone and the secretary has a answer DN button for the boss's phone. The secretary is FNA to the Vmail DN as is the boss in the same amount of rings. When the call hits the voicemail the digits sent by telco are what are actually 'seen' by the vmail. Match the boss's mailbox number to the digits sent by telco. The call will drop into the boss's mailbox everytime. The same thing happens when the call is transferred from the auto attendant or CCR tree. The vmail 'sees' the last digits that were dialed.

Hope this helps,

2 easy and simple solutions when you are done with everything else.
1. Program a call foward button and have the woman press the thing before she leaves, and/or
2. Program the phones into a pickup group
