Microsoft's new "Windows Update" does not work

Hi everyone,

On W2k Server and Professional, We are getting the following error when we try to do the "Windows Update". This has recently worked until they incorporated there new windows update, It seems to be catering to the Windows XP and not Windows 2000. Here is the error message, any help would be great.

Hi there,

We are using different varations, 6.0 and 5.5 both with the latest service packs.

You might want to start by putting 6 on all to keep the standards. 6 is more stable. Glen A. Johnson

I actually found out what the problem was, sorry for the delay, but this may be useful to someone else, If you have the remote control software called Netop, This software prevents windows updates from working, There is a available patch available at there web site. Its basically a registry hack. Its called fixwinup

I have just encountered this error on a windows 98 se computer, an old Toshiba laptop (March 1998), with the exact same error code, but this computer does not have netop installed or running. Has Microsoft already terminated windows update support for windows 98?
