I have a legal document that I would like to place links (if possible) within the paragaph to align with the outline numbering. For instance, say I have the following paragraph in Section 2.38 of a legal document:

(a) The same Hours of Service shall not be credited more than once under this Section 2.38.

However, now say I add a paragaph to the document and tihs paragraph/section becomes 2.39. Is there any way I can link the wording within the pargraph to be consistent with the outline numbering?

I truly appreciate any help I can get on this!!!

Yes. Instead of typing Section 2.38, you use a bookmark cross reference. You can cross-ref to loads of different items, or create a manual bookmark and cross-ref to the it. In this case, you can cross-ref to either a heading or number depending on how Section 2.38 has been inserted.
