Microsoft Word 2001 for mac Type 2 Error

Word 2001 has worked fine for me, until this morning, it won't start. I get one of those meaningless "Type 2 Error" messages. I'm running OS 9.1 on a G3 Power Book. Yes, I 've (1) updated the Office 2001 for 9.1; (2) allocated more RAM to Word (increased from 10,000 default to 20,000); (3) trashed all of Office, including MS extentions, then reloaded from CD and re-updated; (4) set extentions to simply OS 9.1 All plus MS Office.

Have you tryed deleting some of the preference files in the Microsoft folder in the system folder\preference\ folder. I would delete the 'word settings' file.

One of my prime suspects would be a virus - have you checked recently?
