Hi Guys.

Just been to a customers computer where shes got a problem with microsoft word 2000 as part of the office 2000 professional edition.

Everytime she tries to open up a file the word logo box comes with who its registered to and so on and then the screen gos white apart from the blue bar along the time and does nothing else. in task manager it shows word at 97-98-99% cpu usage.

When this first happened she sent off an error report which she had a reply from saying she needed to download something for it to update but also that this version of word isnt suported or it couldnt find the supported version.

All the other programs function correctly with no problems.

ive tried a repair installation, a uninstall/reinstall installation and manually uninstalling and restarting the computer and reinstalling to no avail.

I know this is old software but wondered if theres a fix for it or whether its best to upgrade to a newer version.

Any help is much appreciated!
thank you
Luke

Hmm, not sure, but you might could try this:
[ol][li]uninstall Office[/li]
[li]Restart machine[/li]
[li]Download, install, and run RegScrubXP Pro[/li]
[li]Search for problems, and fix anything it finds (let the computer search[/li]
[li]Restart machine[/li]
[li]Reinstall Office[/li]
[li]Report back here.[/li]
[/ol]

You may have a different Registry editor program that you'd want to use, but I'm still a fan of RegScrub.

Hi thanks ill give that a go when i can get back to the machine,
to be honest i never really use reg programs as dont think they do much.

the only one i use is built into an internet security package and thats purely because its there!

il report back wen ive done ty!

Sometimes, you won't see much difference with a Reg Cleaner program, but sometimes you will. Just by the way they work, they can sometimes get rid of spyware/virus threats as well as just fixing other performance lags and quirks. I've seen HUGE differences on some machines after running one, but usually, as you say, it's not a really big difference.
