I am running a Windows 2003 server that is hosting 2 virtual machines using Microsoft Virtual server 2005 sp1.

About every 2 hours the host machines looses network connectivity for about two minutes. The strange thing is that you can still connect and access all services on the virtual machines. Does this make any sense to anyone?

Since I have no "real" experience with Microsoft's Virtual server, it will be hard to assist, but here goes....

On the host machine, have you checked the NIC properties, ensuring that "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" is unchecked?

Now as far as the services on the virtual machines working, and the info I've gleened from:

The network is "virtual", so essentially, you can still work from the host on a non-networked machine. If you are on the host, you'll still be able to get to the services/web pages being served from the virtual machines, even though you can't from another machine (not the virtual server host).

If you are getting to the virtual machines from other than the virtual server host with a network interface down, I would look to see how many network adapters you have, and if there is additional interfaces plugged into the network. Essentially, see if there is additional network interfaces on the virtual server host.
