Anyone else seen this yet?

I assume it covers 98 and 98SE. I thought I'd seen a note in the CNN bottom-of-screen "ticker" suggesting it covered WinMe as well, but I haven't found that anywhere else so maybe I misread it.

MSNBC is a little late on the draw...many/most of us have been aware of the end-of-life schedule for some time.

Here's a link to Microsoft's official "end-of-life" schedule for reference (re: your ME inquiry)

MSNBC 's just posting us on somehting that many/most of us have known for some time.

...sorry for the double-post...TT's acting a little funny today...

Yep, I was over-reacting to this "news" myself I guess. I'd forgotten we are almost into 2004 already. ;-)

"Among the products that Microsoft will cut from its distribution channels on Dec. 15 are all versions of Windows 98 except Windows 98 Second Edition; Windows NT 4.0 Terminal Server Edition; all Office 2000 editions; Office XP Developer edition and SQL Server 7, Tony Goodhew, a product manager in Microsoft's developer division, said Monday."

For everyone else out there that haven't yet read in-between the lines, online self-help support (Windows Update, MS Knowledgebase, etc) will continue to be available for Win98/98SE until January 16, 2005. The same goes for WinME until December 31, 2004.

It isn't yet time to fret about having either OS. But that time is coming soon!

I think it says something though when Windows ME, which was released after 98SE, has a final support date before the 98SE one which was released over a year afterwards.

Think maybe one of cdoggs dates is a typo, think both years should be either 2004 or 2005 depending on which date you want to look at.

Yep, I printed the wrong date for WinME! It should be December 31, 2005.

Keep in mind that official support (phone or email) for both runs out one year earlier (Win98/98SE: January 16, 2004 WinME: December 31, 2004).
