Can anyone tell me if running the Microsoft Search Service impacts upon general Server performance, even if we are not using Full Text Search indexing on any of our Tables ?. Thanks.

It will to some extent because it is using up memory.

As a rule on my dedicated SQL Server Servers (dept. of redundancy dept.) I turn off all the services that will not be used.
