Has anybody tried to deploy Microsoft's RMS manager program in citrix? If so, is it a difficult deployment? Is the interface able to be 'locked down' to where a user cannot access certain features? I dont imagine it would be too much of an issue to get the program installed and published, just looking to see if anybody else has attempted to do this.

Erm what do you mean MS RMS, what is that ?

Microsoft Retail Managment System, its a POS software which is the "upgrade" for quicksell 2000 (aka microsoft bought another company out and stamped their name all over their product)

Ah OK cos Citrix have Resource Manager that was called RMS before. Sorry never had any experience in it. You may even have to be the pathfinder on this one.

Woohoo!!! Being a guinea pig is fun! :p Sorry about the non-clarification, I didnt think that RMS could have about 20 different acronyms till after i posted the original thread. I'll keep you updated on how deployment goes if you want. We didnt even consider trying to publish this in citrix until we tripped onto the idea trying to figure out how to get some people in our accounting dept access to customer records without using a completely separate 3rd party 'canned' program that would translate the database.

You will probably find it easy enough. I would advise doing a pilot tho. Have the app only from one server in your farm until you got it tied down.

Some tips

Install app (re-boot if required)

put machine into install mode "Change user /install"

Run app and make changes to config as required.

put machine into execute mode "Change user /execute"

Let them at it.

well with the current setup, since i work for the american red cross (nonprofit w/ outdated equip) we only have one citrix server at the moment to put it out on, but thankfully we DO have a test enviornment set up in the basement. The one joy i love about MS RMS (omg i said i love a microsoft product....) though, is you can lock out items down to the individual buttons on the interface. Just gonna be a big pain in my arse to lock out every single thing except for query and properties for client data.
