I scheduled an exam (70-290) for 1:00 pm today through VUE Testing. In ~100 minutes out of the allotted time, I failed spectacularly, scoring 564 (700 needed to pass).

I really felt better prepared than what my final score shows.

The question is about Microsoft's Retest Policy. I assume I need to wait for VUE to update the status from 'Pending' to 'Fail', but then do I need to contact VUE or Microsoft for the free retest? Microsoft's site was not clear on this point, but I figured someone here must have retaken a Microsoft test.

You contact VUE for the free retest. You have to tell the person on the phone that you want to use the free retest.

mrdenny,

Thanks for the speedy reply. I'm not in a big rush to go through that experience again, but I find that I'm more motivated when I have deadlines. I'll wait for VUE to update the status and then reschedule (and pass!)

To schedule your free exam, you must call the Pearson VUE call center at 1-800-TEST-REG (800-837-8734) and tell the call center agent you are taking part in the “Second Shot” promotion. Please wait one day after the failed exam to allow your test results to be entered into the system. Then, take your Second Shot!

Good luck on it next time around.

I was also glad for the free second shot. I didn't go into 290 as well prepaired as I should have been the first time.
