Last night (9/10/03)I did an update check at Microsoft. There was 1 critical patch which I installed but didn't restart until this morning when I turned my computer on. Got the Big white letters, blue background note why my computer was being shut down. Something about IPVNMON.sys.
I had to revert my drive back to before installing that patch and it is working again but had a message to check for patches. Should I do it again? What gives?

ipvnmon.sys is not part of XP.

Some have suggested it comes from Zone Alarm, or another firewall product.

Some have suggested it is installed by ISP connection software.

Try the patches 1 by 1 to see what is going on.
