I have been using Microsoft Publisher 97 for about 11 years and never experienced any problems. I used it recently to create busines cards.

Then when I tried to use it a few days ago I got an error message 'ASSERT: File: undialog.cpp line 1396

I have no idea what this means but I have tried un-installing it, running registry cleaner, then re-installing the software. I am using Windows XP service pack 3.
Could this be a compatibility issue? If so, why has it ran before using the same OS?

I have looked at all files and cannot find any "undialog.cpp" files anywhere on my computer. I understand that some ASSERT language use was designed in to MS software packages to prevent installation on more than one computer. I installed this software origianlly on a computer that has since failed totally and has been replaced by the one I am currently using. I see no reason why this should be violating any license agreement.

Please help.

Thanks.

This is a problem that popped up now and then. Are you running a program called Zoom Text?

Just a personal suggestion: It's time to upgrade your version of Publisher. It's evolved so much since the 97 version!
