Microsoft Project 2003 Export Wizard

Has anyone had any experience with the Export and Import Wizards in MS Project 2003? I have tried exporting to MS Excel using the Export Wizard and creating a map. When I try to import the file back in again using the same map, the actual hours aren't applied to the correct day. I think it might have something to do with the "Type of data you want to export" check boxes but I can't find a helpful explanation of those either in MS Project 2003 Help or a reference book I bought.
