Hi,

When I tried to open Outlook it would not open so I end task then tried again, it came and said that it failed to open and asked me if I wanted to open in Safe Mode? I said Yes, it would still not open so I end task again. When I tried to open it again it asked me to perform detect and repair and that still did not work. So I un-installed office all together, rebooted the machine, then re-install. When I tried to open outlook I got the same message; however, word and excel is working fine. I'm running windows 2000 pro. sp2. Any ideas.

Thanks,

Have you managed to solve this problem as I am having the same problem. Have tried re-installing renaming outcmd.dat etc but to no avail.

You can start Outlook in the safe mode by doing the following:

Start > Run
outlook /safe (you may need office CD)

Other options are:

/CleanFreeBusy for calendar
/CleanFinders for saved searches
/CleanReminders
/CleanViews
/ChechClient
/Recycle
/ResetFolders
/ResetOutlookBar
/NoPreview
/CleanSchedPlus

If you're using personal folder(s) you can run scanpst.exe, thats the clean and repair program for personal folders and offline folders

When you try to open Outlook now, can you supply the exact message you get?
