Good afternoon,

I have scoured the internet/user groups and personal contacts and I have yet to find anything that will fix this issue. "Microsoft Office Word has stopped working" error. I also get "Word failed to launch in safe mode. Do you want to start Detect and Repair?" which always crashes as well.

No matter what I try I continue to get the error above. The detailed error is:

I have tried the fixes from the following websites with no avail:
1) 2) 3) I have tried detect and repair
4) I have uninstalled and reinstalled
5) I have uninstalled, deleted the directory, and reinstalled in a totally different directory.
6) Installed ever single update that I can find from Office update, windows update, etc
7) Ran full scans of Malwarebytes, Spybots S&D, Ad-aware, and removed everything those found.
8) There were no new printer drivers installed on the machine in the last few months. This potentially can cause this same issue per some other websites I have read about.

This is a Dell Vostro laptop with vista Business on it. Office 2007 SMB.

I am at a total loss here and the user is getting frustrated. In the interim, I have him using office on our TS for the time being.

This problem has also now spread to his excel install. If he uses short cut keys for Bold, underline, etc it crashes excel in the same manner.

So any help would be appreciated!

I would suggest deleting user profile and re-creating it.

Canadian eh! Check out the new social forum Tek-Tips in Canada.
I should live a long time - I eat a lot of preservatives.

That actually came to me after the hours of troubleshooting last night. First I am going to try to log in as another user on that laptop and if Word opens fine, then it has to be the profile right?

Thanks for the help,

Rebuilding the profile worked to resolve this issue. Unfortuantely there was no known fix to this issue. I really think we got a bad virus/mal-ware that corrupted the word file folders. We tried everything to get this fixed.

Thanks to those of you that helped us out,
