thread68-1484627
I found the original post from July 2008 listed above and it was just helpful enough for me to make progress. The issue users were having was when they went to select a MS Office application such as Word, Excel etc. it would take up to 60 seconds to load. After reading the attached thread I tried several of the suggestions and finally found that if you click on the office button in the top left hand corner, selecting options in bottom right hand corner (word/excel options etc.), Trust Center, Trust center settings, Add-Ins, and select: "Disable all Application Add-Ins (may impair functionality) it will decrease the time it takes for Word/Excel docs (have to run steps for each application) to open. Also, the resizing (maximizing/minimizing) mentioned in the earlier thread helped with Excel to open the doc within seconds. I have also been told repairing office may help (you do this by reinstalling the software and select repair instead of install). Of course this is only an option if you do not use any of those add-ins. If you or the user uses the add-ins another workaround is required. Hope this helps someone.
