Microsoft office can't open the mail session

Hi,
i'm getting this error when trying to use sendobject and outlook express on windows server 2003 with exchange 03 installed on it. I've been researching the problem and I'm unable to find a solution. I've also installed outlook on the server and tried using it as the default mail client but i receive the same error.

I'm in the process of moving my database to a new server and this has become a bump in the road, the sendobject works fine on the original server using outlook express, the only difference i can see is that exchange is installed on the new box. any ideas?
