Microsoft office can't open the mail session

Hi,
i'm getting this error when trying to use sendobject and outlook express on windows server 2003 with exchange 03 installed on it. I've been researching the problem and I'm unable to find a solution.
I'm in the process of moving my database to a new server and this has become a snag in the road, the sendobject works fine on the original server and outlook express, the only difference i can see if that exchange is installed on the new box. any ideas?
