Is it absolutely necessary to install the Microsoft IGMP patch on a Web Server running Windows Server 2003? My Web Server is running fine and appears to be seeing multicast/real-time displays correctly. Although the Nortel docs say to install the patch, Microsoft says only to install the patch if there is an existing problem. What to do?

If no one is complaining and its working as it should I don't see any reason to install it. If your IT group requires you do it it sounds like its supported by Microsoft and Nortel. Otherwise, I would wait until there is a reason to do it.

Most of the time the Web Client isn't a mission critical application for a call center. Meaning if you had to patch and reboot it folks might feel some inconvenience but not really be affected.

The saying of "If it ain't broke don't fix it" holds true in many of these cases, especially with Nortel.

On another note Microsoft says that about nearly everything that isn't a security patch so I wouldn't be too concerned about that statement.
