We recently lost on of the hard drives on our server (running MS Small business server 4.5) and pub.edb and priv.edb were both on this drive along with the log files and the checkpoint files.
Now these have all been restored, however the directory service will not start returning error 528.
I think i have tracked down the problem to the directory checkpoint file (edb.chk in the DSADATA folder) its missing, and failed to backup.
we have tried uninstalling exchange and reinstalling, (then to merge edbs later on) but we are still coming up with the same error message.
Has anyone any ideas because i have run out.
