I recently tried to add a SMTP Virtual Server on a Microsoft Exchange 2000 Server that already had an existing SMTP Virtual Server. After realizing that I didn't need the second SMTP Virtual Server, I deleted it. Unfortunately, now we can't receive external emails. The external email account doesn't receive any type of transmission error when sending an email to our domain. We can successfully send and receive emails internally. We can also successfully send emails externally. The only SMTP Virtual Server that we have now is the Default SMTP Virtual Server. I can Telnet from a external pc to our domain on port 25.

This is a server for a small business, so thanks in advance for any valuable information.

I believe I fixed my problem by running the smtpreinstall.exe tool. After executing this tool, I had to reboot the server and mount the mailbox and public folder stores. Everthing seems to be working fine now.

Thanks
