I am not sure if this is the forum in which I need to be asking this question but it seemed the most appropriate. I have a user that cannot perform a save as function because Excel says that it cannot locate the file idmxl8.xma. The user can save just fine but cannot Save As. This error even occurs on blank spreadsheets. I cannot figure this one out. Please Help!!!!

Have you performed a Detect and Repair (can be found under the Help menu - will require setup disk or whever you loaded it from to be available)? -----------------------------------------------------
"It's true, its damn true!"

What version of Excel are you using? Are you using the latest service release? If so, have you tried reinstalling?

Enough questions!

If it can't the file, bring the file to it....copy that file from a healthy system (w/ excel). Find the file, copy it to network or floppy and replace the bad boy. and of course service pack the system.

...the higher the fewer..

I have performed a detect and repair. It cleared up my profile on the NT machine so it worked just fine. But, the actual user of the machine still has issues with the save as function. I performed a detect and repair and then an uninstall and reinstall and still the same error. The file idmxl8.xla does not even appear anywhere on the users computer or any of my other users computers.

This isn't a manifestation of a macro virus, is it?

Was looking for this answer as well. Just had one of my guys stop back and he said try this:

Open excel document
Tools
Customize
Hit toolbars tab
Highlight whatever is checked (you may have to do this individually)
Then click reset
You may have to reset just the worksheet menu bar.
Also this will probably wipe out any customizations for that specific toolbar and you may have to do this on individual documents.

Worked for me.

I've just come across this problem. Having read this page, I tried Magee's solution - just reset the Worksheet menu bar and this has solved the problem.

For your information, I have:-

- Excel 97 SR-2
- FileNet IDM Desktop 3.0.0

I searched for idmxl8.xla and this file is not on my hardrive.
