If I have an excel file with fields listed in a column, can I import them into access and pull the fields from the column or do I need to move the fields to a row first? I have left the box unchecked for using the "first row contains column headings" in access. I have over 100 fields that I would like to import and they are listed in column A. I will need to do this many times and would like to get the steps down so anyone can do it. Thanks.

if the only data in your xls is the fieled names, then you can copy and paste-transposed to put them into the position that access is expecting. then run the import.

Sorry, I should have included that column B contains the fixed width for the field - so a simple cut and paste isn't that easy.

No, it's still simple. As ETID suggested, select all the cells in column A and B, copy, then move to cell C1. Select Edit, Paste Special, Transpose, OK. Then delete columns A and B.
