Hi!

Just a quick question, basically would there be any reason why a label report should not sort alphabetically.

I have a form which on selecting a few criteria etc you can then push the report button which then displays the report, yet the report doesnt appear to be displaying alphabetically even though I have set it.

The report is linked to a query which is sorted alphabetically. The query itself works fine with the sorting it just displaying it in the label report where it loses it. Now I have a lot of tables all linked to each other in this query (which is also a group by query).
Would there be any reason why this shouldnt work???

I have recreated the query, set the order by in the report itself, yet is still doesnt work.

Any ideas people, or is this one of lifes little mysteries (like much of Microsoft products.)

Apologies if my explanation doesnt help.

Thanks!

Hi Jozshi,
This is an Access report? (Just FYI for future reference, there are at least two forums specifically for Access, so responses would probably be quicker there).

Assuming this is an Access report, check the Sorting and Grouping in the report design, to see if it's first sorting/grouping on something other than name (such as ID). This is where you probably want to do your sorting, not in the OrderBy property. Also, as long as there is something in the Sorting and Grouping area, it really doesn't matter how the underlying query is sorted.

Please let us know if you continue to have any difficulties. Katie
