First, before you ask why we have old versions of software, we're in the process of upgrading. Long story short, complex applications, not enough programmers, limited State budget.
Recently, we had a massive update (120 items!) be pushed through our network. This update caused issues with my .NET 1.1 compilier and my system had to be restored to a previous restore point (which was on March 11th). My computer setup is this - I have both MS Access 2003 and 2007 on my computer. This is because while we were in the process of upgrading, some people were still using mdb files, as are DTS packages in SQL Server 2000. My current project is on an old .mdb database (I don't know if it's in Access 97, 2000, or 2002/2003 format), which is where I discovered the problem, and noticed it on other databases (in both .mdb format and .accdb format).
The issue is this - When I right click a list of linked tables to open the Linked Table wizard, nothing comes up in Access 2003. In Access 2007, it gives me a message that "The Visual Basic project in the database is corrupt". The Show Help tab talks about this being with databases upgraded from Access 97. I'm not sure of the original versions of these databases. Some may have been created in Access 97, and eventually upgraded to 2000 and 2002/2003, then Access 2007. After clicking "OK", I get the error message that "The wizard you've requested is not installed or is in a bad state. Please install or reinstall the wizard...".
However, if I create a blank database (in 2003 and 2007), I can open up the import/link table wizard and it will add tables. When I go to open the import/link table wizard again, the same error occurs.
What should I do, short of just uninstalling and reinstalling the whole thing, or re-imaging the computer (there is an image of this computer with everything installed and working)?
