I don't think this can be done, but can you convert a MS 2002 into a MS 1997 version?

and, if so, how?

I have tried creating a new database in MS 97 and trying to import from the MS 2002 but I get an unrecognized format error.

I have tried the Tools -- convert -- MS 1997, but still receive the same error.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.....

Thanks in Advance. [shadeshappy] [shadeshappy]

This can DEFINITELY be done, but only from Access2000, 2002 or 2003, not from Access97.
(Can't create a database in 97 and then try to import from the later formats).

You shouldn't get any Unrecognized format errors if trying to save to 97 format from Access 2002. You might get other errors, due to some code or feature being used in your 2002 database that is not available in 97, but you should be able to create the database.
Let me know if you make any progress on this.

You would need to use either Access XP (2002) or Access 2003 and under Tools, Database Utilities you would select Convert to previous version...

I do not believe Access 2000 could convert an Access 2002 database. It is a different file format...

Thanks for the help!

I tried again to convert in Microsoft Access 97 from Microsoft Access 2002 and it appears to have worked.

The only thing I can figure is when I tried this last week, I must have had to many applications opened at one time which prevented the conversion.

Anyway, thanks for your help.
