I currently have a microsoft wireless "G" router with 4 rooms wired with ethernet. I use both the wireless and wired features of the router.

In my office though sometimes I have a need to hook two computers using the etherenet but I have only on port in the wall.

If I install the microsoft 5 port swith to the exiting port in the wall, would the allow me to essentially have 3 ports on the wireless router and 4 new ports on the switch? Has anyone done this?

As long as from the wall to the switch, you plug the cable into the Uplink port.

It is common to cascade devices just as you desire.
