Hi Steephen, i already made it upgrading the WS5A from Windows POS Embedded 2009 to Windows 7 Professional. The upgrade must be a full new instalation and i had 3 problems to solve, 1 still not really solved.
1 - windows 7 needs 16gb for 32bits and 20gb for 64bits instalation and my hadware came with 8gb flash drive
2 - the flash memory installed are not a regular flash drive but a kind of "internal usb drive", the hardware already hava a SATA slot but i didint found some power outlet for hardrive inside the system.
i read a loot of options and i decided to try use a 32Gb regular pendrive as a flash drive.
Mirosoft don't allow install windows 7 or 10 directly on usb devices but i found a app for windows to do it very easy and totally free. This app is called WintoUSB and you just need a iso image or regular Windows DVD media to make a full windows installation in pendrive.
After installed i need to open the workstation to take off the original flash memory, plug in the pendrive with windows already installed at Regular USB port 1, and changed the BIOS configuration to boot on any USB devices.
The system came up quick and with zero problemas.
3 - the only one issue i found was the drivers, i still looking for a driver pack because the readers and touchscreen are not working properly. The only one driver i found and make to work whas ehternet, (i got the driver at intel website for 8567v3 and work perfect)
