MICROS Software (RES 3.x or 4.0)

I'm trying to get my hands on a copy of 3700, RES 3.x, and 4.0 to build some integration software with our web application.

I don't **think** I need a full license (we're developing a custom application), but am willing to pay for one if need be.

Corporate MICROS wasn't interested in talking with us, and the two dealers I contacted wanted me to buy a whole system (multiple terminals / etc...). Seems overkill for what I need.

Any ideas where to start looking?

Look on EBay, lots of Micros there. Google "Micros 3700 for sale" and you'll find sites as well. Beware on used systems you still may need Micros help for Passwords etc. Also if you need the software Media be sure they are providing it if you purchased used, many sites don't have the original media of what they bought. Thanks for the input. I've contacted a few folks on eBay, as well as Micros resellers. So far, no luck.

Thanks for the offer! What did you have in mind? We are going to need to integrate at the db level to pull out (for example), gross sales and item-level sales, employees and job codes, and attendance (if purchased). In addition, we'll have to write some sims (syms?) code to interface with a 3rd party software product (which we write).

I'd be happy to share the module with you -- and if it's applicable, provide some free access to our software.

If you're needing to do any of those items, I'd be happy to talk collaboration as well.

Well I am looking to do something similar to that. we are also looking at a db integration to pull out similar data for use in a rails or php web app.

We can provide you access to a live running micros host (not a live store so do what you want) by a variety of means. Or maybe even more. Lets discuss.

If you want to have two way development, (i.e. online ordering), which would involve creating transactions from a 3rd party source, you would need to get the checkbook out and contact MICROS Professional Services to get the specs and info you need to utilze their web pos API. If extracting data is all you need, I can provide some the media and software, along with a db that has sales totals. If you wanted to create ongoing totals your self you would need a license from MICROS.

Thanks for the offer. I believe at this stage, we will only be extracting data. At no point will we be inserting any data (ie, two way development).

Corporate MICROS just got back to us with a "fact sheet" of information, including names and numbers of our MICROS customers (we have a few), so that they can contact them and speak with them (and upsell them?).
