That Oracle is shuttering all the Micros offices/dealers in Canada in the coming months. This brings them in line with how Oracle operates their company with low overhead, home office based employees. Are you seeing this in the US as well?
I am not, however, the Site I work for is a larger company and our Account Manager is based in Maryland and our Depot is based in Las Vegas, NV. I can check with a friend and see if this is the case with the smaller Micros clients. I do know Oracle has gone through a lot of Micros' policies and has been changing things around.
I have heard that their focus is going to be on more Symphony and bigger chains, casinos and hotels and care less about the mom and pops. Even before the Oracle deal they cancelled some of their dealer's contracts. Aloha did the same a few years ago too.
It also appears that their salespeople are somewhat restricted from discounting, everything now comes from the top.
Short term, should be good news for those of you that support Micros on your own or for smaller companies, you're probably going to be more in demand over the next few years.
@PosGuyUS, pretty much thinking the same way about it and feel that as well, being I am at a large site and have had so so support lately (especially from the Account manager).
