Micros Simphony to PMS interface

On my Micros EMC i have an interface called PMS which connects to an interface server that is used for room charges. The "PC" that is the interface server is an older Windows XP box that is starting th crash on a regular basis. We have built a new interface server and configured it exactly the same. I have then gone into the EMC change the IP Address of the PMS server to the new server.

The terminals are all still trying to pull room inquiries thru the old interface instead of the new one. I have updated the database on each terminal, I have reloaded the database on each terminal, I have restarted the terminals. I even went so far as to RECAL a terminal thinking something there would resolve it. Nothing.

I verified that the Service Host (also the CAPS Server) can ping the interface server. that it can telnet to the port (5010 BTW) and that the interface server can ping the CAPS server and the EMC server. Can anyone tell me what step I am missing to get this Micros system to look to the new server for room inquiries and room charges?

Does the interface use a config file for settings? If so see if you can edit the ip to the new server. Or is it possible to give the new server the old ip and computer name?

Some additional information. I created a second PMS interface configured exactly the same, except using the new interface server. and I set it up as a back up.

I then go to the old interface server and I turn it off. Micros then says transmit failed. do I want to try the backup. I tell it yes, and it immediately comes back with a failure. I do not see it send any activity or requests in the log of the new interface server. That is very strange.

I then change the IP addresses in Micros and the same thing happens. however the interface server does say message received. So I really am at a lose as to where the issue may be at this point.

I am thinking I may need to reboot the SIMCore server or the CAPS Server, but both of these will cause all sorts of accounting issues. so not sure that Micros would make it this difficult.

 
Are you changing the PMS interface IP in EMC and pointing it to the new interface server? Or did you create a new interface under EMC

I have done both ways. Currently the only PMS interface in EMC is pointed at the new interface server. However all of the terminals are still sending data to the old interface server. I have rebooted them, reloaded the database, updated the database, and even reCAL'd one of them. they are still pointing to the old server.

I am trying to determine now if this IP Address data is in the CAL files and if so where so I can change it? Is it possibly hardcoded in a Database somewhere that is not being changed? The SQL admin is not seeing anything with looking in the database, and neither of us know much about Micros. We have dropped support because we are moving away from Micros but my site will have Micros for another year as we are the last to get the new POS system

 
Sometimes the Workstation does not update the new IP Address in the local sqlexpress database
the Solution was to drop the database on the workstation.


 
How do you drop the database on the local workstation? I thought Recal would do this.
 
You can drop the local DB by running this on a command line:
sqlcmd -U <YourUserName> -P <YourPassword> -S localhost\sqlexpress -Q "drop database Datastore
