Micros Simphony install error

I'm trying to install Simphony v2.7 MR6 from an ISO image I obtained from Oracle. When I run setup.exe in the root folder of the install media (right-click and "run as admin" since running normally says admin user required), I just get an error saying "No Simphony software found to update.". The only option is clicking a large "OK" button in the bottom right corner of a window with a blue gradient -- which just closes the window and nothing else happens.

I'm pretty sure this is a complete installer, not just "upgrade only" media. The media contains everything that is listed in the Install Guide PDF file, and I was able to install all of the prerequisites.

I do have Simphony v1 media as well, should I try installing that first, then upgrading? Seems like that might be extra messy.

MR6 is an Update. You need to download the Foundation installation for it and not the Media Release. When you are in the "Oracle Software Delivery Cloud" software search enter "Oracle Hospitality Simphony Foundation", download that version. I believe the Foundation they have there is v2.8.

Thank you. I was not given access to the e-delivery system They just gave me a flash drive with a bunch of stuff. It looks like the v1 install works (some what), so going to try installing that.. what do you think the odds are that v2 upgrade I have will upgrade a v1 copy? Should I even try?

Don't confuse Simphony v1 (Now known as Simphony 1st Edition) with Simphony 2 and above.
They are totally different systems and are developed by Micros independently.

Thanks for both answers. Looks like I'll trial v1 while I wait for Oracle to send me the correct v2 "Foundation" install and not the "Media Release".

..although I believe "MR" as in "MR6" actually stands for "Maintenance Release". Quote from the docs:

"This document describes the features and changes included in the Oracle Hospitality Simphony version 2.7 Maintenance Release (MR) 6."

Either way, sounds like I only got an upgrade, not "foundation"/full.

Go here, you can get the Foundation from it. As CathalMF stated, you can get Simphony 1st Edition and Simphony 2 from here. You will need a username and password, which you might be able to create, if not request it from your Micros contact.
