We have some customers using these CE terminals with our software and everything works fine except for the credit card reader. We cannot use the Micros readers so we slap on a USB reader. Although it works, there is about a 10 second delay from when you swipe, if you run it in notepad you can see it enter each number 1 at a time. I am told this has to do with how CAL works. Anyone ever deal with this and know away around it other than going to WEPos?

(I posted this a while back, never saw a response making new thread because cannot reply to original)

You're running Micros software?
How are the MSR Readers configured, are they in Software or Hardware mode?
I've never had this issue. However, Who is your processor for Credit Cards? Because running these through a regular USB MSR reader, I believe puts you out of PCI Compliance scope. You may want to contact your Processor to see if they have their own.

Running POSitouch on them. Don't know what software or hardware mode is. Running anything through them, manager cards do the same thing.
It isn't related to the processor. As far PCI, PCI says the readers must be secured to something so they are less likely to be tampered with. It does not say you cannot use a particular type of reader.

Regards to POSiTouch, have you looked at the configuration?
I do not know if it is similar to Micros, where you can configure what the Workstation uses (Micros WinClient) and doesn't use.

POSitouch can use CE and OPOS drivers if that's what you mean. The Micros readers won't swipe in Notepad and if we do the USB reader in Notepad, you can watch how slow it goes. Must be a keyboard driver that they put in there.
