OK - so we have a location with ten rooms with about 90 seats per rooms. We have two expo KDS, Left and Right. All print classes have both enabled. Order device L-Dine In has all order devices except Expo Right checked, and R-Dine In has all order devices except Expo Left checked. We have a SIM running that assigns the order type to the table based on the table number. This portion works. They choose whether both KDS are on or off by using redirect to redirect Expo Right to Expo Left when they are slow. Going this route was necessary because they are using floating E-Series tablets, so simply unchecking an order type by workstation doesn't work. For the most part, it works...

Sometimes though, checks with R-Dine In still show up on the left KDS. They are doing all kinds of crazy item discounts, holding, touch firing, and fire all. Anyone have any idea if any of these can cause what I'm describing?

When are these things going to the wrong screen. Could it be something like an order being placed on hold, and then fired after an order device redirection change?

Or possibly a modifier somewhere set to parent override?

Pmegan, nope. They only change the redirect at the start of the shift, hours before this was happening.

Wildbar, I've been checking both tenders and menu item classes and so far, nada. The thing is though this is being affected by order types. The check has an order type set that has the left expo unchecked from the list of order devices, and yet it is still managing to show up on the KDS. This defies everything Micros says should happen. The order device selection under order types is the highest in the hierarchy list.

Could this be a mix up between the table number and the table name? Tables are selected and displayed by name, so if the SIM is picking up table number and you have any mismatches, (say table 421 has name 412), you could run into a problem.

We actually simplified things; not sure why I didn't do it before. The button to get to the right auditorium is now an order type key with a next. I can confirm all checks are coming in as the right order type - changed the KDS to display order type up top, and the Right order type is still showing up on the left. I even removed the button to make sure none of the managers were screwing around (they generally hate their IT department, and my assurances that I'm not with their IT depart means nothing).

Are you using kitchen themes? I know there is something with Kitchen themes and order types that works different then if you never used kitchen themes at the site. I'll have to look in our old case notes.
