I've got a client with a micros e7 system. For certain employees they are unable to make changes to time clock information. The error is always "Unable to change clock-in time, overlaps with existing time slot".

Even deleting a shift and then recreating it, gives the same error. It seems to happen only with certain type employees.

My first guess was a database mismatch between stations but that should be fixed during the nightly synchronization.

Anyone else ever seen this kind of error?

Thanks,

I haven't worked with the e7, but have seen something similar on 3700 systems. It happens if the system date is accidentally changed for a while. This is usually somebody trying to find out what day of the week a certain date falls on, so in most cases it get set a few weeks ahead. Anybody who clocks out while the time is wrong actually clocks out way in the future. Once the time is corrected, these employees can't clock in and adjusting the time cards gets tricky.

Check out a time card or labor report for shifts that last over 24 hours. If you find any you have to adjust the time out before you can make any other normal changes.
