Micros E7 - Consistent "One Moment Please" Hangs

Our Micros POS terminal is hanging for 3-5 minutes during order placement and almost every other transaction. What are the first 3 common steps I should take to address/investigate the issue?

The terminal has already been rebooted but the reboot did not resolve the issue. The issue has been a problem for the past 3-4 days.

Do you have a server or are the e7 terminals running in a peer-to-peer mode? What version of e7 are you running? What version workstation?

This can be caused by any number of issues, from a database that has been allowed to grow too large, to networking issues.
