Micros Autogratuity for Split Checks

Hey Guys!

There's a policy in place for my system where an autogratuity is applied for parties larger than a certain size. I have a Service Charge button configured that applies 15% to the check. The problem I'm having is when I split the check; the service charge I apply appears as a separate line item that applies 15% only to one check, as opposed to 15% per item.

I tried enabling an autogratuity, which does recalculate 15% per split check, but the problem with this is that it applies to every check, whereas I only want it active for large parties.

I read in a previous thread thread693-1719633 that an "Auto Service Charge" can be enabled (which I have), and that the "Turn Auto Service Charge Off" option can be disabled so that a button needs to be pressed to apply the auto service charge. I looked through the touchscreen designer screen but am unable to locate this button. Can someone advise on how I can enable this button on my terminals for the server to press?

If not, is there any other way I can set an autogratuity for large parties that want to split their check?

Hi,
I know there some issues in early versions of 4x using the Auto Service Charge option. I am running 5.4 MR3 without any issue.

Just add your Service Charge that you created to your touchscreen (Service Charge Number). Once you Add the Auto Service Charge to the check you won't be able to void it so make sure that you also add a "Auto Service Charge Exempt" key to your touchscreen also (Function : Check Operations > Auto Service Charge Exempt).

The "Turn auto service charge off" option is in the revenue center settings: POS Configurator / Revenue Center tab / RVC Discount/Service button. Check that option and select your 15% gratuity in the "Auto Service Charge" dropdown for each applicable RVC. When you have a large party, press the 15% Gratuity button to enable the service charge. From that point on the 15% gratuity will recalculate every time items are added or removed from the check. You'll probably have to hit the 15% button on check created by splitting, but you won't be stuck with the whole 15% staying on the first check.

I didn't realize that setting the auto service charge would enable the behavior for the service charge selected. This solved my problem, the gratuity is now splitting properly.
