Micros 9700 Credit card auth problem

Hello

We are using the Micros 9700 system and are having an unusual issue with our credit cards.

The system is not allowing us to "Re-Auth" the credit cards for a higher gratuity value. The system is set to pre-Auth 20% higher value, but if a guest chooses to tip higher it provides an error message

"Available balance xx.xx"

For some reason its we believe its treating credit cards as Pre-Paid cards

It is on all types but weirdly only at random times.

There is no consistency with terminals, Users or card types

Has anyone see this error?

What's the length of time between the original authorization and the re-auth?

Also, have you contacted your processor?
