We are getting further down the path of upgrading our sites from Micros 4.x to 5.x We use PM, LM, FM, Forecasting and Icare. We were told today from Micros to have a successful and issue free upgrade we would need to clear all our totals for everything before the upgrade. That hampers a lot as we use our historical data for a number of things...Forecasting, PM, FM especially. We also started at version .9 and have never had to clear totals before to upgrade. Any comments or thoughts?

You do not have to clear totals. As usual with Micros the upgrade process can hit certain hitches and clearing totals helps prevent that, but it isn't absolutely necessary. My dealership always does though, and we just leave the second computer there usually with Remote Desktop on so that they can get their old data. It is just easier that way; if we had a customer that really balked at it we might leave the totals, but advise against it.

I've personally upgraded several res 4 sites to my lab without clearing totals and run the lab for several weeks issue free. It's like insurance... Usually it's a waste of money... Until it isn't because you need it. You might end up being that one install that has tons of problems because you didn't clear it, or it may all go perfectly.
