MICROS 3700 - W10 Update CAL Broke

Last weekend after a Windows 10 Update one of our CAL Clients started having print and cc verification slow downs.

Saw errors in the 3700 logs (at the end of the post). I uninstalled the CAL, uninstalled all of the C++ distributions from Programs and Features. Tried to delete the c:/micros folder - but Windows would not let me as a 'file was in use' - even after a restart. Reinstalled the CAL.

The symptoms are the same - the errors are also similar in the logs. I think I need to get the MDSHTTransprt or the MDSCaXML to update/delete/refresh - but can't figure out what to do. Our MICROS Dealer is also stumped.

Anyone have any pointers?

I haven't tried Micros on W10, but CAL is a headache to reinstall.

First, go to Services.msc and press on "Description" tab, then shutdown all the services that starts with MICROS.

Second, uninstall MICROS CAL, change that machine name and IP and delete all the micros files on the hard drive, then reset you computer and try to reinstall it.

Didn't think of changing the IP/machine name in order to allow to delete the /micros files. That might do the trick!

What is the workstation? We had the issue with a line of workstation 6's and windows update. Had to do a windows reset from the bios and start a new install from scratch. Although Oracle directed a windows reset from control panel was needed it actually had to be the bios reset. Took two days to figure that one out.

It is a 3.1.14 CAL running on W10.

I removed all of the /micros files then had to uninstall/reinstall the CAL.

That failed. Then I had to Redo the CAL - the code is a 6 digit number 1x2+4+6=X

I copied files over from a working W7 CAL Client, then redid the CAL on the server.

No fun.

Got the CAL reinstalled but the issue remains with not correctly interfacing with the server.

So getting a newer version of the CAL Client (CAL Setup 142) and uninstalling and reinstalling fixed the transport issue.
