Micros 3700 Split Checks and Quantities

I am trying to figure out how to properly report the line items for a split check. I fail to understand why the quantity on the rows created in the new check (in the micros.dtl table) are 0 while leaving the quantity on the existing check's rows 1. Is there something I'm missing?

Spefically, micros.dtl.rpt_cnt is left with a 1 on the original check but given the value 0 on the new check.
