Hi, I just got a WS4 Micros 3700 used. Before I start using it do I need to patch the operating system like normal windows? If so how do I do that? Is there a way to automate it? Thanks!

Are you going to be processing Credit Cards through MICROS rather than stand alone processors? If its a Windows XP system I'm not sure a processor will agree to that of course..

If you aren't going to process credit cards directly through MICROS you don't need to update...

I was planning on taking credit cards. It is Windows CE. Micros said it is supported till the end of this year (which sucks). I just can't find anything about updating the OS.

There are 3 versions you have to determine -
[ol 1]
[li]The O/S on your workstations. It sounds like they're CE, but CE4 or CE6? Boot one up and you'll see it on the splash screen. CE6 is good for a few years, but CE4 is going end of life later this year or early next year.[/li]
[li]The O/S on your server. You need to be on Windows 7 or 2008.[/li]
[li]The 3700 version. Open any Micros application, click Help and About. That will show you the version.[/li]
[/ol]

I'm assuming this system didn't come from a dealership. Did anybody explain the licensing to you?

It is running CE 6. That's good right? Does that need to be updated and if so how do I automate that? Thanks.

CE6 is good. They're PCI compliant for a while; I think some time in 2017 or something like that. What OS is on the server, and what version of 3700?
