Hello,
When I purchased my Micros 3700 POS, my menu was pre-programmed into the register and setup to ask the server what two no charge side dishes the customer wanted with their dinners, however it was only until recently, when I was short on help one night and I had to setup up some of the side dishes myself, that I realized that there was a programming error. When I was making the salads that were side dishes, I noticed that no dressings were being printed with salads when the salad was ordered as a side dish to a dinner, and upon further investigation, I learned that the POS wasn't even asking for the dressing that the customer wanted on their side salad in the first place. This made me furious, because it increases the amount of time that it takes for a customer to receive their salad and of course, I had to keep finding the server and asking the server what dressing went on the side salad.
Besides the side salad that is a side dish and no charge, I also have a regular larger salad that is by itself on my menu that the customer is charged for when they order it and when the server adds this salad to the check, the POS does ask the server what dressing the customer wants on their salad.
Here is exactly how Micros programmed in the two different salads:
The charged salad is a priced menu item that has a required condiment called salad dressing that prompts the user for a salad dressing.
The side salad is a food modifier and set as a member of the vegetable choice condiment group. The vegetable choice condiment group was then set as a required condiment on all menu items that have the two side dishes included with it at no charge.
I tried to fix the side salad by adding the salad dressing condiment group as a required condiment to the side salad food modifier, but the POS configurator will not let me add a condiment to a to a food modifier. So does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this so it will ask for a dressing on both the regular charged salad and the free side salad?
Thank you,
lachilles
