Micros 3700 isl file to modify/validate reference field

Hi,
When I scan a QR code in the reference text box I get some special characters and at customer code, can someone help me to write a isl file replace special characters with null BEFORE I close the check. I can write a sql script to update the ref_dtl table to but I want to do this before I close the check.
