We just had a change of employees and now when we tried to delete them from the system, we are getting the error message:
A system error occurred: TdtmEmpActions.DeleteEmployee Failed. [Sybase][ODBC Driver][Adaptive Server Anywhere]Primary key for row in table 'emp_def' is referenced by forein key 'CFK2SHIFT_RVC_EMP_OT_TTL' in table 'shift_rvc_emp_ot_ttl'
We tried to back up the database before we did anything major and that failed too. It was getting close to opening time so we had to stop what we were doing. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you can't delete an employee if they have sales / time card records. You can "terminate" them in employee status.

My steps for this are:
1. Remove the Employee Login detail (frees up the number or card for re-use)
2. Remove the Employee Class from the employee (this disables the account & stops them showing up in Manager Procedures)
3. Create a number range for the the Disabled employee accounts (say 10000) and renumber the "Number" field to push them to that part of the table.

& JD11111 is correct about deleting.
