We have 4 workstations running win95 and a server with win2000 professional running Micros 3700 POS on it. 3 workstations connects to the server fine and the 4th workstation is giving unexpected db error. One of the employee mistakely started the Micros control pannel on it when the server was off. Now this worstation is unable to connect to he server any more and every time it boots up it gives error : UNEXPECTED DB Error". unable to run in stand alone mode either. Please help.

It sounds like something in the local database may have gotten corrupted. Try re-running netsetup on that workstation.

I ran the netsetup and nothing changed. I unpluged the LAN cable and ran the workstation as standalone and it worked fine. I connected the LAN cable and the server shows the workstation is fine. I rebooted the workstation again and as soon as the 3700 db starts it says the db server is unavailable and ask for to connect to backup db. When I clck yes and enter the code/password, it says code is not right. I again removed the LAN cable and restarted the workstation. Start in stand alone mode and then connected the LAN cable. Its working OK but if I will reboot it again it wont connect back to the server DB.

Look in Configurator and confirm the device name and IP address, and subnet mask.

On WS04, confirm the device name, WS04 and IP. Once this is done confirm the subnet mask also!!

The true IP (subnet + mask) is used to unencrypt the DB.

Good luck
