I'm currently working on a new server for one of our customers, and I've been experiencing some interesting things while working with their database. Initially, their database was sitting around 2.8 GB, absolutely massive I know, but they're a 24/7 restaurant and it's tricky to schedule time for a rebuild, especially since they're basically busy all day and night. I upgraded and restored on this new server and rebuilt the database to try and get rid of some bloat, but the rebuild actually increased the size to around 3 GB. I then cleared totals, which brought the database size down. I then rebuilt the database again, and this time the size decreased drastically to just under 60 MB, which is, by far, the biggest decrease in database size that I've ever seen.

I'm wondering if anyone else has seen a change in size this large. The database now is about 2% the size it was initially. I've been poking and prodding at the database for the past day and haven't found any issues, but I'm still kinda worried. The database validates successfully.

Depending on historical totals settings, if you use LM, PM, etc a lot of information can be stored in the database. We have locations that run around the 3gb size on a regular basis, and if you clear out all the totals it shrinks down to nothing. I think as long as it does not keep going up drastically and stays in a range you should be fine

Looking at settings for historical settings, they have it set to store 400 days of System and RVC totals, and basically everything else is set to store 200 days, so that makes sense. Thanks! Just wanted to be safe.
