Hello -

Had a recent occurrence at a site that was initiated when one of the cashier's was accepting a credit card as form of payment.

When the cashier swiped the guest card - an error message popped up on the Micros 3700 workstation stating "Credit Card Already Tendered". The cashier hit the "OK" button to remove the error message and the system had placed an authorization for 0.09 cents in the guest check - where the total for the check was for $6.42.

The guest card ended up batching at the end of night for $0.09 on the check.

Very unusual anomaly. Unfortunately, the store didn't have much detail to share other than they encountered this issue when swiping the guest card - and then the system closed out the check but only charged the individual's card for $0.09.

Has anyone ever had this issue come up? Would this be a Micros issue or something that would be tied to our processor - Heartland?

Thanks

Unless you can reproduce the error i would think that the cashiers recollection of what happened might be wrong. Sounds like they entered 9 cents as the amount to tender before swiping the card. The cashier must have also finalized the 9 cents to the credit card or it would not show up in your batch if its just a pre-auth. Sounds like the cashier then tried to use the card again for the balance. Just my thoughts.

How was the rest of the check tendered if only 9 cents was charged to the card?
I'd check the journal files and see what went on with that authorization & payment. I've never seen that error before, but it sounds like there was a 9 cent CC Final rung, and then the cashier tried to either auth or finalize to the same card.
