Hey,

I was wondering if someone can help with a curious little problem. I recently installed a new printer on the back office pc. The problem is that when our end of day autosequence takes place, it prints the wrong orientation, cutting off half the information. If the report is manually started, it prints perfectly. I have gone through all the motions of resetting defaults, uninstalling and reinstalling, as well cleaning all traces of the old printer driver and software. I have messed with every setting on the printer's own configuration as well as those found in Micros. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated, especially since it is wasting a ton of toner and paper. For a last resort, if someone could assist me in changing where the report goes, possibly just a file, it would at least allow us to salvage all information and save on costs. thank you in advance.

You have to set both printer defaults and advanced printer defaults to be Landscape.

true JD1111. If not this then the crystal reports have orientation coded into the report... If its only jest started then JD1111 is correct. However if a report is PREVIEWED first, it uses the Crystal embedded orientation up here (at preview) leaving the PRINTER DEFAULT setting to be used when printing from the preview.

Make sense?

well I have certainly set all the necessary defaults to the correct orientation. like I said it prints perfectly when it the report is manually printed.

That does make sense Steve. Basically I need to go into chrystal reports and change the orientation there? Thanks jd1111 and Steve.

there are usually 2 places to set printer defaults
printer defaults
and defaults under advanced settings

Also, check the application autosequences&reports to make sure the printer settings also show landscape as the default.

Hi again,

No, I am not saying they need changing in Crystal, I am saying the Crystal settings are consumed in the previewing of the report....
So try printing without previewing? If you look at the autosequence steps make sure the tick box for 'preview report" is not ticked.

try the simple first :)

I have been able to solve this sometimes by clearing out the default printer in POS Config--> Restaurant

Give it a shot.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I have double and triple checked that every possible printer setting is in fact set correctly, and they all are. I have cleared all remnants of previous printers. Nothing is working. The reports still print portrait when they are supposed to print landscape. I am at a loss here as to what to do next, this is really frustrating. Thanks again for all the help.

What version is this, have you logged into the machine using microssvc/mirossvc and set the default for that user?

troubleing!! :)
A reminder that when you change the Default Printer, you need to actually restart the server. (loaded into registry etc) and a simple reload wont do it.
To assis in troubleshooting, could you start the the Log Viewer on the server:

Start>Programs>Micros Applications>Utilities>POS>3700d Log Viewer.

Run the autosequence, and watch the server log. Copy the text and post it here for us to read. Hopefully its something simple. Try running it from the server. If it works then try running it on a BOH-PC.

Steve
