I work for a bar and grill as a cook/IT. Our Micros back office computer suffered a Hard Disk failure and we lost our interface utility.
The Micros we have was inherited with the business and we have nothing but manuals for the whole system.
I am in dire need of the installattion software for the PCISN interface board, and all the official Micros reps in our area cant help me except to sell me a new system.
My MICROS software version is 5.03
Back office PC is running DOS/WIN95
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Did you find the software? It is readily available from any Micros office. Post if you need help.

Hi TobeThor!
Thank you for your response sir. At this time I have not been able to procure the install for the software. I did manage to obtain copies of someone elses installs and am trying to set up the interface that way but its very slow and trial and error. I did talk with Micros in this area(Pacific Northwest)and was informed that they do not have version 5.03 of the interface installation disk.
My current dilemma is that i have one version(3.21)that i was able to figure out the manager passwords, but my micros version is not compatible with 3.21.
The 5.03 version I have,I am unable to find the passwords so I cant change anything.
I can get both versions to load the board at start up,but when i try to run .bat like reset or daily i get exceptions.
Any assistance would be appreciated.

Shame on Micros, to state that they do not have a copy of what you need is total BS. There is no doubt they have access to it but refuse to offer it up. Expect a Micros salesperson to knock on your door soon! This is forced obselesence. Anyway.. you need to use Ver 5.03 PC/ISN software as that matches your 2700 POS version. If loaded from an original set of disks no PW is necessary IF you have the KEY DISK in the "A" Drive. Try that & post back.
If you don't have a Key Disk (it's clearly labeled on the 3.5" disk) google Micros 2700 troubleshooting. That's what I have done in the past and I found Non-Micros companies that have helped me in the past. Be prepared to pay for their advice thou. This should be a lesson for people out there who are considering Micros POS. What the hell is the harm handing out a disk when someone is in need?

Also, remove all the 3.21 software before installing the 5.03 version.

Hello again sir!
I forgot to mention that this system was not installed by Micros,so they are not forthcoming with any help at this time. The person who installed this system is now, shall I say,"vacationing" and is in no position to assist.
I offered to buy the software from an area service rep but he states that it is no longer available(although i strongly suspect that this is not true)in spite of the MICROS support manual which states that such legacy support is discretionary.

So I'm stuck at this juncture.

Another addendum....the 2 installs i have were copied from hard drives....not actual installation disks, working installs.

Sorry to beat a dead horse, Micros no longer supports RM2700 software, haven't in years, BUT that doesn't mean they can't offer you a set of disks. To claim they don't have any disks or unable to make a phone call to find a set of disks is lazy and just simply ridiculous. Everyone please... think about it please.. just for a moment. The Micros 2700 is arguably the most successful POS terminal ever produced. Micros sold a 100,000 of them. Prior to year 2000, thousands and thousands of those sites used the 2700 for credit card processing (which required the RM2700 software with that PC based PC/ISN board). Now suddenly Micros can not find a single copy of that software, total BS. What happened? Were they cleaning out thier offices and needed the valuable space that a 3.5" disk takes up. One could store every piece of software Micros distributed in the 1990's in a single shoe box. Even tossing it out is wreckless as there are still sites using a PC connected to their Micros 2700's. They can't do credit cards anymore (PCI rules) but many sites use the BOH reporting RM2700 offered. As I said, this is a HUGE LESSON for POS prospects and when companies knowingly behave like this it makes my blood boil! Just google like I said, and call a few of the companies that come. You'll get people willing to provide what you need. I don't believe this forum is a place I can post the company I have used in the past. All you need is that Key Disk to bypass the PW prompt.

Come to think of it, can you get the Key Disk from either of the two sites you were able to copy software from, if Yes then you're all set. Before starting up the software (CISN2700) put the disk in the "A" drive. At the pw prompt just press "ENTER", when you get into the software change or create a pw that suits you. Expect the CISN2700 configuration may be a little different than yours, it'll have parameters from the site you copied. Could be, but not likely to be exact. The Board # must be assigned etc. Sound like I have been thru this before. 3 Years ago, same thing happened to me. One thing that may be helpful if you do not have the PCISN Book (it details how to set the banks of 3 Dip Switches on the board) is to open up the "other sites" pc (where you got the software) and duplicate their dip switch settings. If your board was set up identical to the site that you got the software from, the software may then load looking for the board with the exact settings in the software. It that works, you don't have to know exactly how your board was originally set up. Hope that made since. BUT 1st, document what your dip switch settings are, that's very important in case you must go back. BUt 1st I would just try booting it up as there is a chance it'll work right from the get go. I have a PCISN book, the dip switches determine Board #, IRQ's etc.

Mine was not difficult to revive but I had help from a Micros tech on the side, he was the one that told that Micros has (at least their dealership) copies of all this stuff and they don't throw it out because there are sites that still use the software but they are instructed to tell people that it's not supported or offered if someone needs it. I understand why the local Ford Dealer does not have a muffler for a 1980 Crown Vic, but we are talking software disks, disks that hold software that "if unavailable" may render the entire POS system useless after a HD crash. If a software company doesn't treat it's own software catalog as "mission critical" don't even buy a pencil from them.

So in the end this particular tech had to violate company policy to "do the right thing".

Nope, the keydisk for the installs I have are wherever the person who programmed these comps are.
